Kenseal makes it a top priority to support the communities in which we live and work and we are committed to being good neighbors in the areas where we operate. Recently we had a unique opportunity to provide material for a special project in Baltimore – the city where both our headquarters and one of our 13 stocking facilities are located.  In east Baltimore, three artists created a custom bus stop at the intersection of Baltimore Street and Highland Avenue. The project is a collaboration of the Southeast Community Development Corporation, local residents and artists of the Highlandtown Arts District in an effort to bring recognition to the neighborhood.

The bus stop includes a big red pushpin and the Spanish phrase “Estamos Aqui” meaning “we are here.” The pushpin was a reference to the icons used on Google Maps and the phrase was meant to embrace the neighborhood’s diversity. The design won a $25,000 PNC Transformative Art Prize.

Bus-Stop-Front-300x186Kenseal had the opportunity to donate specialty construction materials for the project. We were proud to support the cause and help bring this unique bus stop to a local neighborhood.

Our community outreach program is another way in which we make an impact throughout the year. Each of our locations is encouraged to volunteer as a team in their local communities and this year has helped Habitat for Humanity, My Sister’s Place, Roc Solid Foundation, MS Society, the Park Conservation, Beds for Kids and more important causes!
